Science Club

SC@M (Science Club at Mitchie) is a play-based hands-on inquiry club where the students are exposed to a variety of phenomena to uncover the scientific world. Each term we have a different foucs:

· Term 1: Earth Sciences

· Term 2: Physics

· Term 3: Chemistry

· Term 4: Biology

The major objectives of SC@M are to:

 1. Promote a love of scientific enquiry and curiosity at Mitchelton State School.

2. To provide opportunities and facilities that support scientific interest.

3. To liaise with external groups with similar objectives and aims.

4. To encourage interest in science, particularly for our girls.

SC@M was featured in an article for an online journal Australian Science.

Children from Grade 4-6 may join SC@M.

SC@M has been supported by Kedron-Wavell Club with a $1000 grant. This allowed us to purchase several state of the art binocular microscopes.

SC@M (Science Club at Mitchie) has been fortunate to receive a grant from Kedron-Wavell Services Club, our second very generous grant donation. We would like to acknowledge Kedron-Wavell’s continued support of our work we are doing here at Mitchelton State School, fostering a new generation of scientists. We will use our grant money to buy additional microscopes so our children can discover the beauty of the microscopic world. Thanks Kedron Wavell.
