Book Week is an annual event coordinated by the Children's Book Council of Australia (CBCA).  Each year the CBCA presents a Book Week Theme.  Previous themes have included "Connect to Reading", "One World, Many Stories", "Champions Read", and "Reading Rocks!".  In 2015 the CBCA will be celebrating the 70th Anniversary of Book Week.

At Mitchie, we link our annual Books, Art and Music (BAM) Festival with the Book Week theme, with all art work produced by the students reflecting that year's theme.

As part of Book Week celebrations, students are invited to a Character Dress Up Day, where the students come dressed as their favourite book character.  The students love this event and participate in a whole school parade to show off their costumes.
